A MAN is set to face trial at crown court after he denied a string of charges.

Daniel Norman, 31, of Shadygrove Road, Carlisle, appeared at the city’s magistrates court on Thursday, June 17.

He faced one charge of breaching a restraining order made by Carlisle Crown Court on November 11 2019 – relating to alleged incidents between May 19 and June 9 at Carlisle. The court heard he allegedly made contact with the victim by way of messages, calls, and visits to home.

He is also accused of one charge of assault by beating, relating to an alleged incident on April 20 at Carlisle, and a charge of stalking relating to alleged incidents between June 2 and June 9. The court heard Norman is alleged to have made threats via voicemail and messages causing the victim to fear violence against herself and her family.

Norman denied the charges of breaching the restraining order and the stalking charge against him. No indication was given on his plea for the assault charge he faces.

Magistrates directed that the accused will face trial by jury.

Norman will appear at Carlisle Crown Court on July 16 for the trial. Until then, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody.
