An incident of attempted arson in which petrol was poured through a letterbox, is being investigated by Cumbria Police.
Crews from Carlisle East and West Fire Stations were called out to a property on Gray Street, Carlisle at about 3pm yesterday after petrol was poured through a letterbox, the perpetrator then tried to set it alight.
Police have since confirmed that they are investigating the act of attempted arson.
Cumbria Police were contacted with reports of the arson attack at around 3:55pm.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 127 of 17 June."
