A YOUNG Carlisle man has been convicted of assaulting a man and causing him actual bodily harm.

Jordan Lace, 25, of Sandalwood Drive, had pleaded not guilty to the attack, committed on Sunday, January 26, last year.

He was found guilty after a trial at the city's Rickergate Magistrates' Court.

After hearing the case and legal representations, magistrates imposed a community order.

The punishment element, they ruled, will consist of a 12-week overnight curfew at the defendant's home.

This will be electronically monitored. It will operate each day between 8pm and 6am.

Lace was also told that he must pay £500 compensation to the victim, as well as prosecution costs of £300.

The defendant, who was legally represented, will be allowed to settle the debt at a rate of £75 per month. Court records do not specify that the defendant was told to pay a victim surcharge.
