A NEW staff car park is to be built at West Cumberland Hospital after plans gained council approval.
In an application submitted to Copeland Borough Council, a total of 211 parking spaces have been proposed.
The application site comprises an L-shaped parcel of land located to the south of Sneckyeat Road, Whitehaven, Cumbria.
The site currently comprises a temporary car park and houses a number of portable buildings used in connection with the redevelopment of the West Cumberland Hospital.
The land to the southwest which shares an access with the application site comprises a permanent car park used in connection with the West Cumberland Hospital.
In an official decision notice, the council stated: “The local planning authority has acted positively and proactively in determining this application by assessing the proposal against all material considerations [...] determining to grant planning permission in accordance with the presumption in favour of sustainable development as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.”
