MAGISTRATES in Workington have sentenced a man for two offences of criminal damage.
William Joseph Convery, 26, of Bowness Court, first admitted damaging solar lights and snapping a bank card. He did this on April 19, Workington's magistrates' court heard.
He also pleaded guilty to a second criminal damage allegation. On the same day as the first offence, the court heard, Convery damaged a police van's rear cage.
The value of the cage was estimated to be £500 - the figure magistrates ruled the defendant must pay to Cumbria Constabulary as compensation.
He must also pay compensation - assessed at £25 - to the owner of the bank card and solar lights.
The defendant's community order includes a six-week curfew. The sentence includes an order that the defendant - represented by duty solicitor Dave Martin - must pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £95.
