A FIFTY-YEAR-OLD Carlisle man has been convicted of twice “persistently” using a public communications network to cause annoyance.

Antonio Di Carluccio, of Chatsworth Square, Carlisle, committed the offences on October 10 and October 14 last year. He denied any wrongdoing but was convicted after a trial.

He was given two £300 fines, with £220 costs.

He was also told to pay two lots of £120 compensation after being convicted of three offences of using racially aggravated threatening behaviour on September 1 and given a fine of £360.

These latter offences happened at Trowbridge, Carlisle Rickergate Magistrates Court heard. The defendant was represented by a barrister during his trial.

The prosecution was brought by Wiltshire Constabulary.
