FANS of cricket are on the countdown to the first ever coloured clothing floodlit game in the county’s history.

On June 25, Carlisle Cricket Club will clash with Cockermouth Cricket Club in a T20 game at Edenside with spectators invited into the ground.

The Carlisle ground’s bars will be open from 6pm on the night and fans are in for a thriller as both teams are packed with county level talent.

Both sides have been Readers Cumbria Cricket League premier division champions in recent seasons.

There will also be entertainment from High Dynamics at the conclusion of the game plus a barbecue and bars located around the ground.

The match sponsor for the event is Sunbelt Rentals, which is providing a high-quality floodlighting system at Edenside for which the club say they are extremely grateful.

The new “17 Sport” Cumbria Cricket League T20 competition gets underway three weeks earlier, when Carlisle start their group matches at neighbours Wigton, but the event on Friday June 25 promises to be something special.

A spokesperson for the Carlisle club said: “MC for the evening is our great friend Ian Milburn from IM Events who will doubtless raise a smile or two!”

Today sees Carlisle Cricket Club take on Whitehaven’s first team in the Readers Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division. The second team will take on that of Penrith in the EVCL Premiership.

Sunday will see Carlisle Academy take on Lanercost Colts at 2pm in the EVCL Sunday League Division One at Edenside.
