A DRIVER has been fined after admitting a charge of speeding.

Chris Shore, 34, of Tara Hill, Penrith, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He faced one charge of speeding, and one charge of failing to identify a driver when required to do so by the chief constable following a successful application to reopen the case following a conviction.

Shore admitted speeding - the court heard he drove his Vauxhall on the A66 at Flusco Pike near Penrith on June 10 2020 at 70mph in a 60mph zone.

For that offence, he was fined £40, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £26 and given three points on his license.

The alleged offence of failing to identify a driver, which related to an alleged incident on July 28 at Carlisle, was withdrawn. The previous conviction imposed on December 12 last year, as well as the endorsement on Shore's license, was removed.
