Celebrating 10 years in business is always a landmark, but when it’s marked with a special donation, it’s even more special

Carlisle’s steel titan Brown & Wilson Steels has reached the decade milestone, and decided to mark the occasion by donating thousands of pounds to two deserving charities.

Despite the pandemic, the firm has experienced a booming year, as well as 10 successful years of serving the construction industry in the North West and beyond.

The Fire Fighters Charity received a generous £2,500, with a further £5,000 going to Carlisle and Eden Mind, all from company profits, at cheque presentations held last week.

Ian Harding, managing director of the Steelstock UK Group, which own Brown & Wilson Steels, said: “Since its creation in 2011, the depot has grown year by year due to the excellence of its customer service and responsiveness to customers requirements.

“We are so proud of what the team at the depot have achieved, and we are proud to have donated such vital funds to these important charities.”

After a tough past 18 months for charities, Michael Boaden, from Carlisle Eden Mind, is thrilled with the donation.

He said: “The fact that a local company has made such a significant contribution to our work, is fantastic.

“We rely heavily on fundraising and donations to meet our objective of making certain that nobody in this area has to face a mental health issue alone, and every penny given will be used to aid this work.”

Mike Clusker, station manager at Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, added: “We are extremely grateful to accept this generous donation on behalf of the Fire Fighters Charity.”
