TWO Cumbrian MPs have joined forces to bring the Parliamentary Export Programme to businesses in the region.

John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle and Mark Jenkinson, Workington’s MP, are working alongside representatives from the Department for International Trade to bring another session to businesses in the region.

This is the second of three events which will focus on assisting export businesses with finding new international customers. The event will highlight what support is available to help businesses based in the Carlisle and Workington constituencies to export successfully.

This second event will be held virtually and a webinar has been scheduled to take place on the 8th of July from 11am.

Both MPs are writing to businesses in their areas to invite them to the discussion.

Mr Stevenson said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local firms to learn more about global exports and how to grow their business internationally, taking full advantage of emerging trade agreements across the world."

Mr Jenkinson added: "There are a number of export businesses in the Workington constituency. We are very lucky to have two Ports which are important for our export infrastructure locally."
