A CYCLE pump track, suitable for youngsters and beginners on a variety of bikes and scooters, will soon be up and running in Carlisle.

Construction work on the Dale End Field, Harraby, track will begin on Monday (June 14), and will take about 10 days to complete.

Funded by Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust, the track works will include installing new land drainage and installing the track alongside seating.

Perimeter fencing will also be installed at a later date.

The contractor, working on Carlisle City Council’s behalf, will be installing a new self-closing gate in readiness for the new fencing, which will result in the presence of a stand-alone gate with no fencing for some time.

Councillor Elizabeth Mallinson, Portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing, said: “The new track is one of many new improvements we are making to our open spaces.

"We hope the site is welcomed by the local community and hope to see the works completed soon.”
