A HARDWORKING fitness professional took on her toughest challenge yet in the latest series of Channel 4’s SAS Who Dares Wins.

Tyler Clark, 28, made it all the way to the final of the gruelling competition and viewers will find out on Sunday if the Carlisle woman was crowned champion.

Personal trainer and champion bodybuilder Tyler joined 20 other recruits on Raasay, an island in Scotland last year to endure the ultimate test of physical and mental fortitude, SAS Selection. She has won national awards for her physique but found the show to be the hardest thing she has ever done.

Speaking to the News & Star, Tyler said: “It’s kind of like I’m reliving it now because I did it in September, I just had to get on with my life as normal because I couldn’t tell anyone about it.”

Tyler said that she applied for the show during lockdown without believing she would be picked.

“A lot of people can’t really understand why I wanted to do it. People say ‘I’d love to do something like that but I’ve never really had the guts.’ I think it should be on prescription.”

Days of pushing herself to the limit in a stark environment brought out the best in Tyler.

“What I’ve always found is there’s so many distractions in life, the world can demand so much whether it’s your phone or work.”

The experience was an escape from the pressures of society: “to be thrown into something so basic, your basic needs, taking the time to explore your mind.

“I’ve always found myself in my comfort zone when I’m really exhausted.”

The public will struggle to understand what the contestants go through on the show.

“Watching it back it looks easier than what it was there were so many parts before and after challenges that haven’t been shown.”

The experience went beyond the challenges, Tyler said: “I really enjoyed meeting such a diverse group of people, everyone came from different backgrounds but we all seemed to have something in common, it was just wanting to figure out what you’re about.”

The final of the Channel 4 show which is spearheaded by Ant Middleton will be broadcast at 9pm on Sunday.
