NEW Mayor of Allerdale, Coun Malcolm Grainger has made a visit to the GNAAS Ambulance base in Langwathby this week.

Mr Grainger was accompanied by his wife and consort Betty as they visited the site of one of his chosen charities for the year.

There they met Sophie Bendelow and Deborah Gibbs who support the charity-side of the operation and Doctor Theo Weston who works on the air ambulance- who gave a tour of the ste and showed them the new G_NHAE ambulance that aims to be more economical.

The Mayor said: "We enjoyed a brilliant visit to the Great North Air Ambulance Service's base this week to meet the incredible men and women who provide this lifesaving service.

"The work they do is absolutely incredible and it was really interesting to hear about that first hand.

"That's why I've chosen them as one of my charities for my year as mayor and I hope to be able to raise lots of money for them."
