A MOTHER who appealed for help after a devastating MS diagnosis is close to raising the total needed to start life-changing treatment.

Brogan Johnston, 26, set up a Go Fund Me page at the start of last month in order to raise money for the HSCT treatment she needed in Mexico.

In just over a month the page has raised over £40,000 with countless local businesses and people doing things to raise money for the cause.

The mother of one, is now incredibly close to reaching her £55,000 target after the rallying efforts of West Cumbria.

Brogan said: “ I feel like I’ve never seen anything like it, it just takes away that financial burden and financial pressure.”

“We would have had to probably remortgage our house but it’s just totally helped us.”

Brogan was first diagnosed with MS after a visit to the doctor’s about problems with her eyesight back in April.

Since her diagnosis friend’s and family have rallied round doing everything from sponsored walks to headshaves to raise funds.

Local organisations have also helped out last Saturday Lowca Rugby Club hosted an entertainment night which raised the family hundreds of pounds.

Brogan’s primary reason to get have the treatment is daughter Adalyn who her and husband Scott adore,

Adalyn will do her bit to help out with fund-raising this weekend when she carries out a sponsored walk with her school friends.

Speaking about Adalyn, Brogan said: “At the end of the day you do this for your kids, literally it’s all for her and anybody else in this position would do this for their kids’s.”

“We’re doing it for her, she is the primary reason for this.”
