One of Cumbria’s biggest motoring events is set to return this summer.

The Cumbria Classic Weekend, organised by Wigton Motor Club, will take place on August 21 and 22.

It will kick off with the Rose and Thistle Challenge Tour on the Saturday, which begins in Carlisle and takes in the Borders before finishing near Penrith.

The event is open to all vintage, historic, and classic cars.

On the Sunday, the Cumbria Classic and Motorsport Show will take place at Dalemain near Penrith.

A spokesman for the show said: “This is probably one of the most picturesque show venues in the UK with added attraction of the Dalemain Mansion and famous gardens as well.

“The last running of the show in 2019 saw some 800 cars entered and demand for places is already high as most people missed out on shows last year.

“Featured marques this year are: MG with three specific classes based on age, AC Cobra and Toyota.”

As well as cars, there will be the usual trade and autojumble stands, club displays, as well as arena action and the well-known autotests.

Anyone who wishes to enter either event can complete the form on Wigton Motor Club’s website.
