Sports clubs that are having a positive impact on their community can apply for a grant from the council to improve accessibility and participation.

Applications to the Allerdale Sports Development Grant scheme are invited from not-for-profit organisations, charities, social enterprises and schools where work benefits residents of Allerdale.

Grants from £2,000 up to a maximum of £10,000 will be available to organisations that can demonstrate their project will make a difference to their members and users from the community. It should also help to deliver a social/economic impact in the Allerdale area. The project must deliver against at least two of the following priorities: Create new participation opportunities, improve resilience post Covid, improve economic/environmental sustainability, focus on improving access for those more likely to be less active. They could also encourage new participants into sport or physical activity through innovative ideas.

The money to support the grant scheme has come from the Sellafield Ltd Social Impact Investment Fund (SIIF), an annual arrangement between Sellafield and the council offering an opportunity to respond in a flexible manner to support employment, economic and social growth in the borough.
