An animal rescue centre is getting extra support after being chosen by a national pet shop chain as its charity of the year.
Eden Animal Rescue was picked by Pets at Home in Penrith, as its chosen charity
The charity is also based in Penrith and said it was “entirely independent and proud to save animals other rescues refuse to help.
“We are very proud of our non-destroy policy.
“We actively seek good homes for all animals in our care. We rescue hundreds of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets each year.”
Sarah Bean, the general manager of the charity, added: “We have been working with Pets at Home in Penrith for several years.
“Our local Pets at Home have been very supportive and each year they choose a charity.
“This means every time a Pets at Home customer buys a Lifeline Card (a kind of loyalty card), we get points which can be redeemed into cash, which we use to buy supplies to support the animals.
