A Cumbrian housebuilder has revealed its new chief executive.

Colin Wood, who has worked as regional managing director and chief operating officer at Story Homes, is set to step into the role.

The privately-owned business is set to continue with growth plans under Colin's leadership, increasing its output by nearly 50 per cent to more than 1,200 homes by FY24.

Colin said: “Story Homes is a fantastic business to be a part of and I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside the regional divisions as we push forward with our growth plans, while keeping quality at the forefront of everything we do.

“We’re in a great position as a business, we have the right people in place, robust processes and house types that meet our customers’ needs and aspirations.”

The company has recently been awarded a ‘Gold’ customer service satisfaction rating from In-house, representing the builder’s commitment to quality and providing the highest level of service to its customers.

Fred Story, founder of the business and chairman was pleased to welcome Colin into his new position.

“Since joining Story Homes over three years ago, Colin has played a significant role in ensuring the success of the business, and he has been instrumental in the implementation of our new processes and redesigned house types," he said.

"We are in a strong position and this is a result of his hard work and undoubted leadership skills.”

The firm also saw another senior appointment earlier this year when Mark Cook, joined from Persimmon Homes as a new non-executive director.

Mark spent more than 27 years in various senior roles, including managing director for the North West, Lancashire and Cumbria.
