THE UK's space sector has seen rocketing growth in jobs and income according to a report.

The findings come from the Size and Health of the UK Space Industry paper, commissioned by the UK Space Agency.

Statistics show income has risen to £16.4bn in 2018-19, from £15.6bn in 2016-17.

Employment has increased by 3,200 from 41,900 to 45,100.

Research and development investment now sits at £702m, up 18 per cent.

UK organisations involved in space activity has increased from 948 to 1,218.

Science minister Amanda Solloway said: "The UK space industry is booming."
