A motorist from Carlisle who admitted drink-driving in a supermarket car park has been given a six-week curfew.
Gary Paul McMillan, 42, of Whernside, committed the offence on April 3, the city’s Rickergate court heard. He was caught over-the-limit in the B&M car park on Wigton Road.
His breath alcohol reading was 82mcg. The limit is 35mcg.
After hearing the details, magistrates made a community order and banned the defendant from driving for 21 months.
He was offered the drink-driver rehabilitation course, which could reduce his ban if completed in time.
McMillan must pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
The curfew will run each night from 7pm to 7am. It will be electronically monitored.
