MAGISTRATES have sentenced a 39-year-old Carlisle shoplifter.
Christopher Graham Edwards, of Marks Avenue, Raffles, stole food and clothing worth £134 from Sainsbury's in Penrith between October 25 and November 17 last year, the city’s Rickergate court heard.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
After hearing the details, magistrates imposed a community order with a 10-day activity. He was also ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
The court also ordered that Edwards should pay Sainsbury's £134 compensation as well as £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
