A 56-year-old man has died following an incident in Maryport, Cumbria Police have confirmed.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.45pm on Thursday May 6 on Victory Crescent. A cyclist was found in the road after falling from his bicycle.

The man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary where he was pronounced dead on May 8.

Cumbria Police have confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Duncan Jackson from the Maryport area.   

Collision investigation officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch and help with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for police said: "Anyone with information should contact 101, quoting incident number 211 of 6 May and ask to speak to an officer in the Constabulary’s Mobile Support Group.

"You can also email SCIU@cumbria.police.uk with information you may have in relation to this incident.
