MARYPORT, Workington and Whitehaven, rescue teams got a call-out after a report of someone in the water at Salterbeck.

The incident was reported near Shore Road on Friday and Cumbria Constabulary were also involved.

A spokesman for the Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We were tasked by Belfast Coastguard, along with Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team, Workington Lifeboat and Cumbria Police to a person in the water at Salterbeck.

"As we were responding, the news came that Cumbria police had the casualty safe."

A spokesman for the Whitehaven team said: "As the team were assembling and leaving station news was received that the casualty was safe."

On May 7 the Maryport team reported two call-outs, one from a boat that had lost power off Workington,and another that was in difficulty off Harrington - both vessels taken back to shore.
