TWENTY-two-month driving ban has been handed to a Carlisle drink driver.
Robin Adrian Sharp, 63, of Currock Park Avenue, admitted committing the offence when he appeared before the city's Rickergate court.
Magistrates heard that while driving a Ford Mondeo on the street where he lives he was more than twice the drink drive limit.
A breath test confirmed he had 88mcg of alcohol in 100mls of breath.
The legal limit for driving is 35mcg.
As well as imposing the disqualification, magistrates fined the defendant £619 and ordered that he pay £85 prosecution costs and a £62 victim surcharge.
They offered Sharp the drink driver rehabilitation course, which if completed in time will reduce his ban by 22 weeks.
Magistrates said the guilty pleas of the defendant - represented by defence lawyer Steven Marsh - were taken into account.
