Carlisle band Hardwicke Circus will be heading home to play gigs in the city on several dates in the summer.

The next few months will see the band promote their debut album in St Cuthbert’s church on July 9, with the six-piece collective returning to play at Wild on the Wall Festival on August7.

The St Cuthbert’s gig is sure to hold a special place in the band’s heart as it is the church in which band members Jonny and Tom were both baptised, as well as the place their parents were married and where the band’s sound engineer will get married prior to the performance.

Hardwicke Circus — Jonny Foster lead vocals and guitars, Tom Foster drums and vocals, Ben Wilde bass and vocals Lewis Bewley-Taylor keyboards, Andy Phillips saxophones and Zack McDade guitars and vocals — are due to play several gigs in different places around the county, too, over the summer.

The band have tour dates in Buttermere as well as at the counties biggest festivals of Kendal Calling and Solfest.

When asked about how he felt on returning to his home city, frontman Jonny Foster said: “Don’t all rush at once to buy tickets for the shows, but don’t wait either.”

These latest tour dates come at the same time as the band have announced they will release a single later this month.

The new single entitled “Let’s Make Mistakes” will be available from May 21.

The Carlisle-born band have enjoyed success in recent years with their most recent single “Walking on broken glass” being played on Radio 6 and BBC Introducing when it was released.

The new single will be the latest track to the band’s upcoming album that is due to be released on July 9 this year. The album is described as a collection of songs about growing up in the in-between, from a town you only end up in by accident.
