As the weather starts to heat up all people can think about it having a barbecue.

We asked our readers if they think disposable barbecues should be banned for parks and beaches.

Here’s what you had to say.

Laura Hewitt said: “Yes. Too many people who don’t take them home and also the people who don’t put them out properly and then set half the county on fire.”

Lee Edmondson explained: “Well when I was travelling in Australia the councils over there had put little BBQ stations up in areas such as promenades/esplanades and parks. I’m sure they would work in the UK and Cumbria of course.”

James Grymm Moore added: “No. Selfish, irresponsible people with no respect for others or the environment should be banned.”

Richard Leigh continued: “No. How will it be policed ? If it is being policed then let people have their barbecues and punish those who litter. A ban is just pointless and the kind of people who have no respect for the environment will ignore the ban anyhow.”

Alan Whittam said: “Barbecues should just be banned, full stop.”

Laura Tweeddale commented: “Yes, only because the minority of people leave them behind as rubbish for someone else to clear up after them.”

John Welsh added: “People who don’t have the respect to tidy up after themselves aren’t going to take any notice.”

Nic Barnes continued: “No. There is no problem if people remember the disposable part.”

Lisa Bell said: “No. Just the irresponsible people who use them.”

Lori Skinner commented: “No, just ban the people who can’t clear up after themselves!”

Sara Westbrook added: “No, the people who leave them and all their rubbish should be banned.”

Lianne Walters said: “100 per cent definitely yes.”
