There were delays on the Distington bypass this morning after a deer was hit by a car.
Police were called to a report of disruption on the A595 at about 7am.
It was reported that the animal had been struck by a car and was in the middle of the carriageway.
Officers from Cumbria Police, along with the North West Ambulance Service, and a vet attended the scene.
The deer was put to sleep.
No other injuries have been reported.
