Inspirational fitness blogger ‘Wheelie Mum’ thought her days of undertaking endurance challenges were over after an injury.

Carol Hall's physio told her she would be out for nearly a year as she recovered.

Instead, she has gone on to smash her personal goal of completing a wheelchair marathon - by wheeling 32 miles from Carlisle to Keswick.

Carol, from Carlisle, said she used the grit and determination that helped her lose more than seven stone in weight to push her through her most recent challenge.

“Before I started exercising and losing weight I didn’t feel I was living,” said Carol, 50.

“I didn’t really have any ambition or exciting life plans. Now I do.

“I want to be fitter to do more. I want to travel.

“I want to be a motivator for others; I want to ride a horse, go off-roading on the mountains under my own power.”

Carol, is raising money for Diabetes UK and Young Minds through her most recent challenge, and said both causes are close to her heart.

As a mother and mentor, she said she hopes her efforts can inspire those around her.

She added: “I want to be an example to my children and mentees of the importance of hard work to get what you want and to help others as you do it.

“I also feel the challenges give me the opportunity to model the drive, determination and problem solving to my mentees, my children and others in the community as I share the ups and downs of my progress.

“I am beyond proud to say one mentee has been working hard and overcoming adversities.

“In terms of the challenges, this one was incredible and by far the furthest I’ve been by wheelchair.”

Carol said she was “overjoyed” to have completed her latest feat, and on why she kept going beyond the marathon distance, she simply said: “I really enjoy the new railway path to Keswick so I carried on.”
