AN APPLICATION to use three shepherd huts as holiday accommodation has been submitted.
Eden District Council received an application earlier this month for the huts on "woodland adjacent to Melmerby Hall, near Penrith'.
The applicants are listed as London based Mr & Mrs Rowley.
According to the planning statement: "The huts conform to the definition of a caravan and as such the proposal is for a change of use of the land upon which they would be sited.
"The huts will provide holiday accommodation and as such constitute tourism development.
"The applicants own and run Melmerby Hall.
"The host woodland generally has long been enjoyed for private amenity purposes connected with the hall."
