A HOMELESS man from Workington has been jailed after he admitted a spate of offending.
Carl Frank Weston, 37, pleaded guilty to five offences when he appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court.
The charges — most relating to events on April 14 — were:
* Stealing a £4.59 bottle of Frosty Jacks Cider from Cost Cutters in Workington.
* Assaulting a woman by beating her.
* A second common assault on another woman on the same occasion.
* On April 6, stealing another bottle of Frosty Jack’s Cider from the same shop, Cost Cutter.
* And damaging a bracelet — valued at £500 — belonging to one of the women he had assaulted on April 14.
After hearing from defence lawyer John Cooper, magistrates jailed the defendant for 10 weeks.
They said the offences were serious because the defendant committed them shortly after being released from jail for similar offending.
