A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of various motoring offences during a Cumbria Police operation to reduce road traffic collisions.

The man has since been released on bail and will appear at Carlisle Magistrates Court.

Three drivers were also reported to appear at court during Operation Locality, which ran from April 2 to April 4.

Speed camera vans were placed in Alston and Hartside and were a successful presence to reduce the number of speeding offences.

On the evening officers targeted antisocial driving in Penrith and the surrounding area targeting drives who were speeding and driving carelessly.

Historically, Cumbria sees an increase in RTCs over the Easter weekend due to an influx of visitors to the area.
