Pub goers could be asked to provide a vaccine certificate, Boris Johnson has told MPs, saying it "may be up to individual publicans".

But Tory MP Steve Baker said it was a "ghastly trap" and unfairly penalised those advised not to have a vaccine.

Publicans have criticised the Prime Ministers suggestion that it could be left up to them to decide whether to only permit customers who have had the coronavirus vaccine.

Though no decision has been made, the PA news agency was told pubs may be allowed to scrap social distancing rules if they check customers' certificates at the door, allowing them to operate far more profitably.

We asked our readers if you would wait until you had been vaccinated before going to the pub.

Here's what you had to say.

Denise Wood said: "No.It is wrong for so many reasons.Nobody should be coerced into getting a jab they do not want for whatever reason so they can go to the pub, cinema etc.We do not live in a communist country although it is starting to feel like it."

Soleil Thompson explained: "No, I'm recovering from Covid now so I'm as bursting with natural antibodies as I'm going to get. Will still get my vaccine when they start doing the forties again. I've not much appetite for the drink at the moment, want to treat my body with a bit more respect and healing but I'm really looking forward to some meals and a couple of wines with friends when I'm a bit stronger."

Nicola Procter added: "Wrong on every level because the vaccine doesn’t stop you getting the virus nor does it stop you transmitting it, any pub that asks me for proof then I’ll be asking them to return the favour and prove to me they have had it- works both ways."

Sarah Park commented: "I would have no interest in going to the pub this year, when you’ve had family so ill and in hospital for weeks wondering if they will make it, its not worth risking it."

Catherine Ann Walker continued: "I’ve worked throughout the pandemic without a vaccine with teenagers, so nothings putting me off going to the pub."

Paul Brough said: "No, because I won't be getting vaccinated."

John Scriven said: "I’ll wait until everybody else is vaccinated before I go to the pub."

Mark Teasdale said: "I’m only going out when it 100 per cent safe to do so."

Kevin Drew commented; "I won't be getting vaccinated and I will go to the pub."

Ann Jones added: "Had both my vaccines but not in a hurry to go back into pubs just yet."

Tracy Nixon continued: "I’ve had both my jabs, but still won’t be going to the pub. Didn’t go out much before, so won’t be bothering now."
