A CUMBRIAN mountain rescue team has provided an update on a team member who was seriously injured in a fall while carrying out a rescue.
Chris Lewis of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team suffered life-changing injuries after falling 150 metres on February 6.
The experienced team member was on his way to assist a camper on Red Screes above Kirkstone Pass.
Chris has been in hospital ever since and sadly is likely to remain there for some time.
Posting on Twitter, a spokesman for Patterdale MRT said: “Thank you to everyone who’s asked how Chris Lewis is doing.
“There’s not a lot to report beyond initial assessment of life-changing injuries. Chris will be in hospital for foreseeable future and require long-term support. He currently remains in intensive care.
“The team is keeping in touch with Chris and his family, sharing news of fundraising and messages of support to encourage them. Thank you for all your concern – it is much appreciated.”
A fund-raiser set up on JustGiving to support Chris has reached £842,422.
