Next year will mark 1900 years of Hadrian's Wall.

To celebrate, the UNESCO World Heritage site is staging a festival called Hadrian's Wall 1900.

As part of the preparations, individuals, groups, organisations and venues along the length of the wall have been invited to develop events and activities to help celebrate the festival.

A statement on the Hadrian's Wall website reads: "Inclusion in the Festival is open to anyone who wishes to celebrate the creation of the World Heritage Site in a celebratory and engaging way locally, nationally and internationally to attract new and existing audiences.

"Events and activities will be promoted as part of the Festival through a core local and national marketing and PR campaign."

Hadrian's Wall was built during the Roman occupation of Britain in AD 122.
