Many of us will be dreaming of that first post-lockdown pint with friends and family in upcoming months following last week's announcement about the plans for a 'road map' as Britain finally looks to emerge from the Covid crisis.

In line with the announcement, many of you will undoubtedly already have been thinking up plans for how to mark the occasion when our favourite locals reopen for business.

The first opening will be April 12th when pub gardens will be permitted to open, followed by indoors hospitality just over a month later on May 17th.

With this in mind, we asked our readers which pubs they will be venturing to first when the time comes.

Here were your responses in no particular order...

1 The Wellington Inn, Carlisle

Reader Ann McCall was steadfast in her hopes to return to this Great Orton haunt. She also hinted towards her wish to enjoy some pub grub while she is there.

"It is a great family run and friendly traditional country pub. Fantastic meals."

2 The Kings Head, Carlisle

Reader Mark Maddison waxed lyrical about this historic venue in the centre of Carlisle. The famous pub has served customers for hundreds of years but still remains contemporary, retaining its popularity in the process.

He stated: "It's got to be the Kings Head in Carlisle. The best real ale in town."

Shirl Hall was in agreement adding her admiration for the friendly atmosphere associated with the venue.

She said: "The Kings Head, Carlisle. I've missed the banter."

Fellow admirer Les Harding also stated that this would be his first port of call after lockdown.

3 The Otter Inn, Little Corby, Carlisle

Reader Kerry Kennon will head here first.

"The Otter Inn, I definitely can’t wait,"she stated.

The owners of the Inn then returned her sentiment expressing their hopes to see her and other loyal customers soon!

They said: "We're looking forward to opening the doors - it’s already been too long!"

4 Harraby Inn, Carlisle

Reader Colin Culley expressed his hope that his first port of call will be this Carlisle establishment.

"The top pub in Carlisle," he professed.

John Culley also confirmed he would be heading there for a pint or two!

5 The Beehive, Carlisle

This Carlisle institution is a hit with football fans and locals alike, famously.

The Warwick Road favourite received the vote of reader Richard Dickinson and his friends John Vevers and Stephen McHale.

Mr Vevers said he cannot wait for a 'Saturday afternoon with the footy on' at the popular pub.
