A TOFFEE Shop has appeared on James Martin's Saturday Morning ITV show.

Neil Boustead, owner of The Toffee Shop in Penrith, appeared on the show after Mr Martin was making a chocolate fudge cake which was topped with fudge from the shop.

Mr Boustead was interviewed live on the show via a video link.

Talking to Mr Martin live, Mr Boustead said: "It [the shop] was originally started by an old lady called Mrs Furness, she started it down at the other end of Penrith about 110-years-ago.

"It's been in two families since then. I've been doing it for about 40 years now."

Mr Boustead explained how nothing had changed in that time and the fudge is made in copper jam pans, with wooden spoons, stirred by hand.

The fudge is made in completely the same way as is always has been and by hand.
