One of north Cumbria’s muddiest events has confirmed it will be going ahead this year.

The popular Gelt Gladiator outdoor assault course was cancelled last year, like so many mass participation events, and then the 2021 event in June was postponed.

Event director Mike James had said he hoped to go ahead in September, and yesterday confirmed the good news.

It will take place on land at Walton, near Brampton, on September 18 and 19 when the nation reaches the other side of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a post on social media, Mr James said: “Please join in if you are new to mud runs or have done them before.

"We need you all to help save local events.”

The 10-mile and 10k events will take place on the Saturday, while the 6k and 3k events will be held on the following day.

More details on how to sign up and the transfer of existing entries to the new date will be announced in the coming days.

The first entries are expected to be open tomorrow, transferred entrants will be contacted directly by email.

Gelt Gladiator was first held in 2015 and had run every year until the coronavirus pandemic hit. Fans will be eager to see its return.
