Army reserves took advantage of the cold snap in Cumbria to train in tricky conditions.
Four Yorks, the Yorkshire regiment’s reservist battalion, travelled to the county in order to hit their training targets and brave the gales and bitter cold.
The regiment battled the elements in their bid to complete ‘Exercise Yorkshire Strike'.
An army spokesman said: “The training, which fully adhered to Covid-19 protocols, saw the army reserve infantrymen brush up on a range of skills including cross-country driving, rifle shooting and tactical patrolling."
Adrian Bushby, warrant officer at the 4th Battalion, reflected on the Cumbrian weather. He said: “While conditions were tough, manoeuvres like this are essential to maintaining the operational effectiveness of the UK’s military.
