Vehicles will be prohibited from travelling down the C40I8 Wellington, near Gosforth for a period of up to 18 months.

A notice from Cumbria County Council states that all vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along that section of the road for approximately 1.4km south-west of its junction, with the C40I9 extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately one kilometre.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C40I8, C40I9 (Nether Wasdale), C4025 (Santon Bridge), C4026 (Santon), C4023, A595 (Gosforth), U4050 and C4026.

The order will come into operation on March 11, 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.
