CUMBRIA Police have issued a warning over an online scam involving fake payment pages.
The force is warning residents to stay safe online and use credit cards were possible to get protection under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
A spokesman for the force said: " Have you found a deal that seems too good to be true?
"Criminals may advertise products on auction sites at rock-bottom prices using fake payment pages to obtain your personal and financial information.
"Be scam savvy by reading online reviews to ensure websites are genuine and use the payment methods recommended by reputable online retailers and auction sites.
"Where possible, use a credit card for purchases over £100 and up to £30,000 as you receive protection under Section 75."
