Many readers shared each others joy in what was an emotional piece of news.

Norma Cassidy, on getting to visit a loved one again, said: “It’s really affected her, so I can’t wait to see her. So pleased for you, Dot.”

In reply, Lynne Stewart said: “Norma Cassidy, I was so glad that they let me spend mam’s last week with her, even though she didn’t know I was there half the time. It’s great you will be able to see your mam and it will really perk her up.”

Some readers were upset about the news that residents will only be permitted one visitor.

Sylvia Lowery said: “That’s crap that only one out of three can hold mam’s hand. We have all had our jabs and so has she. It’s torture... she can’t hear us behind plastic screens. How would we choose?”

Many of you who can’t wait to see your loved ones again have clearly marked the date in your calendars.

Sandra Wood said: “Not long now, its been a long time coming.”
