AN APPEAL has been launched to hit online retailers with a 1 per cent sales tax.
Supermarket and high street brands like Tesco have called on Rishi Sunak to level a sales tax at its online competitors such as Amazon. The call comes as the stores will soon see an end to property-based tax holidays.
High street dependent retailers like Waterstones, Tesco and Asda have issued a joint call to the Government for the sales tax which they feel will "level the playing field."
They believe property-based businesses with large estates like them are being put at a disadvantage. Property based rates will return in April.
