MORE than 25,000 people in Cumbria have now been infected by the Coronavirus, since the start of the pandemic, according to Government figures.
The grim milestone, a total of 25,703, was reached after data was published yesterday showing that 1,074 people had caught the disease in the previous seven days.
This includes 184 in Barrow, 245 in Carlisle, 282 in Allerdale, 125 in Copeland, 117 in South Lakeland and 121 in Eden.
The total number of deaths in Cumbria from Covid-19 within 28 days of diagnosis now stand at 1,078 according to the same figures.
The total number of people in the UK who have had their first vaccination is 12,041,288.
The total number who have had their second Covid-19 jab is 511,447.
