More people in Cumbria have lost their lives after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of three deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with those losing their life previously testing positive for the virus is the past 28 days.

One was recorded in Allerdale, one in Carlisle, and one in Barrow.

No further deaths were recorded in Copeland, South Lakeland or Eden.

A total of 135 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

The figures are as follows:

  • Allerdale – 31
  • Carlisle – 21
  • Copeland – 28
  • Barrow – 21
  • South Lakeland – 18
  • Eden – 16

Cumbria currently has a total of 1,553 positive cases across the county, with a rate per 100,000 population of 310.6.

Since the vaccination was rolled out in December, a total of 8,977,329 people in the UK had received a first dose by the end of January 30.

Of these, 491,053 people had received a second dose by the end of the same day.

The country remains in lockdown, meaning non-essential shops must remain closed, mixing of households is not allowed, unless in support bubbles, and everyone is advised to remain in their own home unless carrying out an essential journey.
