WAITROSE supermarket has topped an environmental league table for two years running in its efforts to reduce plastic usage.
On Tuesday it was announced that the store chain came first in the Environmental Investigation Agency and Greenpeace's table for "an absolute plastic reduction" of 6.1 per cent since 2017 across all its product ranges.
It has the lowest "plastic use per unit market share" of the big supermarkets.
A store spokesman said it's pioneered the launch of a refillable range to test demand from consumers for package free shopping.
