A COUNCIL is urging residents to remain vigilant after being made aware of scam calls.
Copeland Borough Council said that they have become aware that scam callers had been targeting people in the area.
A spokesperson for Copeland Borough Council said: "We are aware that a few Copeland residents have received scam calls stating that they were owed a council tax refund.
"Please, if you are in any doubt as to whether a call relating to your council tax is legitimate, call and check with us, and do not make payments until you are sure it is genuine.
"We do not require any payments from residents in order to obtain a council tax refund should they be owed one."
To contact the council and check if you owe any payments, call: 01946 598300 or email: ctax@copeland.gov.uk.
