INNOVATIVE solutions-based business Eco draws upon its specialist skills and knowledge to help and support communities and businesses across Cumbria.

The company, which is based in Carlisle, as well as in Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, and in Annan, works across different sectors to provide solutions to create opportunities for local businesses and local people.

The team at Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, which is part of Eco, has worked with the medical sector to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The Mealsgate-based upholstery specialists has replaced fabric covered seating with easy-to-clean, antimicrobial vinyls in several GP surgeries in Cumbria and recently reupholstered more than 50 items at the James George Education Centre at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle including classroom chairs and seating from the reception and staff rest area.

Ghyll House has also worked with other businesses to create safe, easy-to-clean environments for staff, customers and clients.

Eco recently delivered more than 250 visors to Hospice at Home West Cumbria following an appeal on social media by the charity for PPE.

The firm, which supplies PPE to the health and care sector as well as to a range of industries, businesses and other organisations across the UK as part of its Emergency Rapid Response Solutions, sourced and delivered the items to the charity’s office in Workington within hours of seeing the post on social media.

The donation was part of Eco’s focus on the community and finding innovative solutions to issues highlighted by the pandemic.

Eco also helped out students at a Carlisle secondary school in the autumn term by delivering 850 colourful tote bags so they had somewhere to store their books at the end of the day.

The company acted after hearing the school was in need of extra storage solutions because children were asked to leave their books at school rather than take them home due to advice during the pandemic.

Eco stepped in and provided the orange bags for students, complete with a Trinity School logo.

Home schooling and working from home is now putting pressure on many families juggling children and careers during lockdown.

Many businesses also have the challenge of how best to continue working remotely while also supporting the well-being of their teams.

Eco Communications, which recently acquired Integrity IT Solutions, based on the Rosehill Industrial Estate in Carlisle, is able to provide cost-effective solutions to help families and businesses.
