Woman fined for harrassment 

Kirsty Ann Clarke, 31, was charged with using threatening or abusive words to cause likely to cause harassment alarm or distress.

Clarke, of Rawlinson Street in Barrow, was fined £80 by the court and told to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs for the offence.

Man drove while disqualified

Sam Robert Davies, 27, drove his Volkswagen Passat without a valid licence or insurance at Rusland Pool on November 27.

Davies, of no fixed abode, was told to complete 100 hours of unpaid work by magistrates.

He was also banned from holding a driving licence for 16 months and told to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in cost.

Teen fined for drug driving

Joshua Michael Blezard, 19, of Claife Avenue, Windermere, appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court after driving under the influence of cannabis.

The court fined Blezard £250 and banned him form driving for 12 months. He also had to pay victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £85, bringing the total he had to pay to £369.

Shoplifter stole to get children Christmas gifts

Denise Elizabeth Brill-Edwards, 44, attempted to swipe perfume and gifts sets of an unknown value from Boots in November last year.

Brill-Edwards, of Little Union Street in Ulverston, was issued with a 10 week curfew meaning she must stay at home between 8pm and 6am.

She must also pay £300 compensation with £65 going to the Co-op, £100 to Booths and £165 to Boots.

Woman admits assaulting man

Valerie Ann Mills, 56, of Tricketts Drive in Grange, admitted that she beat Philip Mills in the town on November 22.

At South Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Barrow she was told to complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85 on top of the fine.

Man assaulted two people

David George Doling, 36, assaulted Andrew and Deborah Doling on January 13.

After pleading guilty to the charges at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court the defendant, of Barrow's Hawcoat Lane, was sentenced to 80 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to carry out 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and pay a victim surcharge £95 and costs of £85.
