A CUMBRIA-BASED radio station has benefited from funding which has enabled it to continue broadcasting despite the restrictions imposed on life by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The money has enabled Bay Trust Radio to update its systems and ensure its dedicated volunteers are still able to deliver music and news from the comfort of their own homes.
Station manager John Williamson said the Bay Trust Radio team was 'extremely grateful' for the cash boost - which came from the Cumbria police and crime commissioner's community recovery fund, the Cumbria Community Foundation and the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Williamson said: “The funding we have received will allow our volunteers to conduct as much of their role remotely as they like – whether that is preparing their shows before coming to the studio or going live from their own home studios.
"It will also allow us to do even more outside broadcasts in the future, so the team will be out in our local community as much as we can when events are able to run again."
The station, which is based in Kendal and is served by volunteers from across Cumbria and Lancashire, can be listened to online at baytrustradio.org.uk.
