A South Cumbria schoolboy has shared his thoughts on lockdown by penning a touching poem.
10-year-old Lewis McNeill a pupil at Stramongate School pupil in Kendal had his poem sent into The Mail by his teacher Chris Chew, who wanted his work to be recognised after doing such a good job.
The youngster has touched on themes including isolation, friendship and duty.
His poem reads:
Alone in the house nothing to do
By itself my shiny school shoe
Long days and nights what a bore
To be at school oh I want nothing more
I miss the days playing with friends
Oh Covid, when will this end…
Laptop ready school work set
Hard work for teachers too – I bet
I do have my family which is all I need
But Mr Boris Johnson I plead
Please set us free
I have places to be and people to see!
But on a serious note this a sad time
People’s lives are on the line
The numbers aren’t dropping and are so high
I wish people would stick to the rules and stop living a lie
SO, LET’S STICK TOGETHER SO WE CAN HAVE A FOREVER!
Lewis McNeill (age 10)
